The Time Rex Faked His Death

Sorry friends and family, this post will not have cool pictures through-out it like my friend Kate's post. I am typing this one up at work.

I do not recall the year, my guess is 2005, when this story took place but it lasted over a weekend and I am shocked it lasted that long. The summer rolled around and my friend Matt Graham and I were looking for something to do so we headed up to the neariest Sonic for a cold drink. While sitting up there I told him how I hardly see people anymore, I could go two months without seeing most people and when they do see me not much has changed. I announced to him "its like I am dead." He laughed and said what if they thought you were. So my wheels got turning upstairs about what we were talking about. Within five minutes we had a story about how I was in a car wreck and was rushed to the hospital. While going over the story we also tried to figure out who to play the trick on. I know, what a horrible trick to pull but oh well. Matt flipped through his phone trying to find the perfect person to play the prank on. Derek "D-Cup" Alton was the one we chose. Matt called him up and told him that I was in a wreck and it was not looking good. The story went- I was driving on Flournoy Locas Road, taking the scenic route, on my way to Best Buy when a man in a truck smacked into the passanger side of my vehicle.. Once D-Cup heard the story he was taken by the tragedy. We let him sit and gather his thoughts and by the time he was almost near tears I chimmed in with a hardy "Just playing."
He laughed and said he hated us both for doing it and went on to say "I wonder if anyone else would believe it." We did not think anyone would. After pulling such a joke on a good friend, Graham and I called it a nite. The next morning (Saturday) I get a text from a friend asking me if I was alright. I called her and asked why she sent that. Well it seems while I was sleeping the nite away, rumors started rumbling from Shreveport to Los Angeles and everywhere between. I went from being rushed to the hospital on a Friday afternoon to being pronounced dead Sunday evening. Seems that D-Cup added to the story a little. In stead of being rushed to the hospital, I ended up in a deep coma then died. D-Cup notified someone in Baton Rouge named MoonBurger who was trying to collect money so he could rent a car to make it up to Shreveport to see me. Link, a friend who lived in Austin, balled his eyes out while on the phone to his parents and was on the verge of booking a flight home to make the funeral service. Scott Graham & Bozman also got word of what happened, a few months later Scott made it back to Shreveport in which he saw me and said "I heard you died." Adam (my roommate now days) told me that Jacob asked the football coachs at LSU if he could take time off to head home for the funeral. I feel that Nancy (Adam & Jacob's mom) still dislikes me for this. All in all I lost some friends by "faking my death" but its okay. Most of them are still good friends who, after a while, let it slide.

Rex.
